Our parents have raised us without any of the modern technology that we have today. Now that we have all sort of technology and innovations that are rapidly advancing, should we do parenting the old way or the new way?

A few decades ago, in any given doctor’s office, people would expect to see mothers paying full attention taking care of their children while waiting to see a doctor; today, children are running around screaming, fighting with other kids, while the parents are texting or talking on the cellphone. Technology such as smartphones, laptops and tablets are keeping parents at work during family time. When parents want to unwind from those long stressful  days, they much rather play video games or search for the end of the internet instead of reading or playing with their kids. Online babysitters agency is now a blooming business, targeting parents who need last minute reliable babysitters to watch their children so they can be relieved from being parents…..

We are blessed with today’s technology. Technology has unquestionably made life easier on many levels; but because parents are having too many distractions today, their priorities have shifted. Children are acting out and behaving poorly as a result, all for a little attention from the parents. It is definitely debatable whether technology has made parenting easier or harder. My Baby’s iPad  focuses on that intricate area where we take advantage of today’s modern technology, yet not allowing it dissolve our parental responsibilities.

As a technically savvy mom, I will be experimenting with some parenting strategies and theories yielded from what my parents have taught me over the years, and what I know about today’s technology. Welcome to Experimental parenting 2.0.
